Description

Built in 1878 for Hon. Charles Smith Hyman, this Queen Anne design features heavily ornamented gables. The original Idlewyld property stretched all the way to the Thames River. Inside much of the original woodwork has been carefully restored showing concealed shutters, hand carved mantles and handsome pocket doors. Since its initial construction, Idlewyld has experienced five additions including the ballroom on the eastern wing that hosted the last birthday of Sir. Wilfred Laurier.
