Description
St Luke's began services in 1888 at a home at the corner of Dundas and Kostis Street. The congregation moved to the Orange Hall just east of Crumlin Side Road on Dundas in 1893 and began holding services at the current location in 1905. St. Luke's was originally the Oliver Methodist Church. In 1905 the building was moved approximately 1 mile by horse and telephone poles to become St. Luke's. A basement was built in 1935 and a bell tower was added in 1957.
Do London Experience
Visitors will see a typical small, old, country church now located in the city. They will learn about our church bell which was once a train bell and about our historic flag. This year we have a working model to show visitors how the church was moved to it's currrent location over 100 years ago.We will have many binders available with information on both St. Luke's and the Crumlin area. Little churches like this especially in the city are disappearing fast. We will provide guides and a snack or visitors can tour the building on their own with a handout that we will provide.
