Established in 1973, Forest City Gallery was founded by local artists on the principles of artistic autonomy and celebration of its regional context. Throughout our 39 years the Forest City Gallery, its membership and board have continued to define and reflect the evolving cultural climate of the region’s diverse communities. The gallery continues as a venue for critical thought and dialogue through a commitment to culturally relevant and ambitious exhibitions, lecture, screenings, performances, publications and events.

Currently on display, in conjunction with Bealart’s centennial celebrations, FCG will feature an exhibition of contemporary emerging artists who have recently graduated from the Bealart program. About Forest City Gallery As an artist-run centre, founded on artistic autonomy, Forest City Gallery (FCG) is committed to excellence in programming, exhibitions and events that reflect and address recent developments in cultural production. FCG’s mandate is to serve as a forum for local, regional, national and international artists through the presentation or relevant contemporary practices in visual/media arts, performance, literature and music. FCG aims to serve artists of all disciplines and career levels with a focus on emergent artists and practices. –FCG serves the professional and emerging London art community by providing a space for creative practice that primarily includes exhibition opportunities, but also live performance, book launches and professional development workshops. –FCG engages the local London community through publicly promoted events such as exhibitions, concerts, and the Art Talk series. To this end FCG partners with LOLA (a four-day international festival of visual art and sound), The ArtLAB (UWO department of visual arts gallery) and the McIntosh Gallery (public art gallery) to diversify audiences and support interdisciplinary creative production. –FCG serves a regional and national community with exhibition opportunities and as a forum for artistic exchange, experimentation and dialogue. FCG plays an integral role in the dissemination of contemporary and emergent artistic practices to London audience and facilitates artistic awareness and literacy. –FCG connects emerging and new artists and cultural producers to artists-run culture in the form of volunteer opportunities, internships and workshops on professional development. –FCG encourages and facilitates community collaboration between artists, community members and other arts organizations.
